Abbotsbury Swannery
Abbotsbury, Swannery

Abbotsbury Swannery is situated in a quaint, unspoilt village of Abbotsbury and was established by Benedictine Monks who built a monastery at Abbotsbury during the 1040s. It is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans, spread over a site of some 25 acres. Pleas note: the swans at Abbotsbury are all free flying as this is a sanctuary, not a zoo and thus there are no cages.

Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens
Abbotsbury, Tropical Gardens

The Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens enjoy their own micro climate and it is often dry and warm even in Autumn, which is how such delicate and tropical loving plants  such as palms, lilies and banana trees can thrive. The Subtropical gardens are a year round attraction due its ever changing landscape. Boasting a garden centre where you can treat yourself to something special, a gift shop for treats and a restaurant for an afternoon cream tea, you can while away the hours in this most peaceful of settings.

The Mayflower Museum, Plymouth Hoe is the natural heart of Plymouth with breathtaking views across Plymouth Sound, one of the most perfect natural harbours in the world. It is here where Sir Francis Drake, finished his game of bowls before heading out to defeat the Spanish Armada in 1588. Or, why not visit the Barbican, which houses many of the city’s top attractions from National Marine Aquarium – home to the biggest fish tank in Europe, through to the famous Plymouth Gin Distillery.
