On our way to Pontypridd we stop in Hereford.

The cathedral city of Hereford is on the River Wye not far from the border with Wales and has a lovable old core, known as the High Town, with car-free streets and family businesses.

You will have time for a wander, or maybe a visit to the Romanesque Cathedral before we continue on our way to arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Caerphilly Castle


After breakfast we head over to Caerphilly Castle.

The rise of the powerful Prince of Wales persuaded Marcher lord Gilbert de Clare that he needed a fortress in double-quick time, and it had better be truly formidable. So from 1268 de Clare constructed the biggest castle in Wales, second only to Windsor in the whole of Britain.

Rhonda Heritage Park


In the afternoon we visit the Heritage Park, only 350 yards from our hotel. Why not book a tour (fee applies) and go underground with the guides who are full of entertaining tales and fascinating facts. The tour ends with DRAM! This exciting virtual ride is exclusive to the Welsh Mining Experience.

If you don’t fancy the underground experience why not visit the exhibitions – did you know coal from the Rhondda was used to power the Titanic? Or maybe visit Caffe Bracchi for an afternoon tea and then pop into the award winning Chocolate Shop and maybe take home a handmade chocolate treat. The choice is yours.

Dyffryn Gardens


In the morning we head over to Dyffryn Gardens (National Trust).

A garden for all seasons there is always something new to discover at Dyffryn. Come rain or shine, enjoy the great outdoors and take a leisurely stroll through our evolving arboretum or visit the tropics in our glasshouse filled with orchids, vines and an impressive cacti collection.

Discover the world in minature in the glasshouse - Visit tropical rain forest, dry desert and grape-filled vinery in our glasshouse. With lots of unusual and interesting species of cacti, orchid and vine it is a treasure trove for the garden enthusiast.

St Fagans National Museum of History

THURSDAY, 10th SEPTEMBER, afternoon

St Fagans National Museum of History is one of world’s leading open–air museums and Wales’s most-visited heritage attraction.

During the last fifty years, over fifty original buildings from different locations in Wales and from different historical periods have been re-built in the 100-acre parkland. Each building is frozen in time and opens a door into Welsh history offering a fascinating glimpse into the past.

We’re told that the gardens at St Fagans are among the best in Wales.

After breakfast we had to the capital city of Cardiff for time at leisure before heaidng homewards.


A deposit of £50 per person is required to secure your place. Deposits paid are non-refundable and non-transferable except where arrangements are cancelled by Mullanys Coaches. The balance of the holiday cost is due and payable before the date of departure. Every effort is made to ensure the accommodation is of acceptable standard. When booking a room for twin occupancy please specify whether you require double or twin beds. If no specification is made we will assume that either is acceptable. All passengers are required to carry comprehensive travel insurance. Details of this must be provided to Mullanys Coaches prior to the departure of the tour.


Cancellation by the client will only be accepted by Mullanys Coaches in writing.

The following cancellation charges will apply:

  • For advice received more than 42 days before date of departure, deposit only
  • For advice received between 42 and 29 days before date of departure, 30% of the total price.
  • For advice received between 28 and 8 days before date of departure,75% of the total price
  • For advice received 7 days or fewer before date of departure, 100% of the total price

The Heritage Park Hotel


Our hotel is the Heritage Park Hotel, which is set in the beautiful Rhondda Valley, in South Wales.

The spacious rooms have a widescreen TV, tea/coffee making facilities and an en-suite with bath and overhead shower.

The restaurant features recycled wooden timbers from Cardiff Docks and serves traditional cuisine.
