Herne Bay

ADULT/SENIOR £26   CHILD £16 - LONG DAY (NORTH)

There has been a pier in Herne Bay since 1831, and stretching 3,787 feet out into the sea, it was the second longest in England. In 1940 the army blew up two sections to prevent enemy landings. Nowdays the pier head sits completely detached, 1km out to sea.

There is a museum with many interesting items from fossils to a bouncing bomb of dambusters fame, which was tested between Reculver and Herne Bay during the second world war.

Why not sit yourself down in a deck chair and take in the views, enjoy fish and chips by the seafront or play the arcades, but whatever you do, don’t miss this place!

Did you know....Herne Bay’s seafront is home to the world’s first freestanding purpose-built Clock Tower, built in 1836
