Ely

ADULT/SENIOR £26   CHILD £16 - LONG DAY (NORTH)

Nestled in the fen country of East Cambridgeshire, ENgland's second smallest city, Ely makes the perfect day out.

A visit to the cathedral is a priority. Known as the “Ship of the Fens,” its West Tower soars over the treetops and can be seen for miles. Whilst you are there, don’t forget to pay a visit to the stained glass museum.

Ely has a long river frontage from which you can soak up the beauty and tranquillity of the local countryside. If you have time Ely is the home to Oliver Cromwell’s house, the only one of his residences still left standing except for Hampton Court.

St Ives

The market town of St Ives is a hidden gem in the beautiful north Cambridgeshire countryside.

It is about 26 feet above sea level and in the very earliest times, it must have been covered by the sea because fossils of corals and sea urchins have been found in the area. These date from 160 million years ago. Later remains include those of mammoths, elephants and hippopotamuses.

The famous Oliver Cromwell statue stands in the heart of the town surrounded by some unique shops.

Interesting facts: The name was changed to St Ives after the body of St Ivo was found near here in AD 1001
