Sitting very proudly in the northernmost part of The Suffolk Coast is Lowestoft. Famous for being the most easterly town and the first place to see the sunrise in the UK, it’s also the birthplace of composer Benjamin Britten. This once flourishing fishing port is now renowned for the quality of its wide, golden sandy beaches.

Did you know.... Early man crossed the Alps to live near Lowestoft 700,000 years ago and the flint tools found there represent the earliest record of human activity found in Northern Europe.

It has also been the home to Ichthyosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Woolly Mammoth You can see the bones of some of them at the museum.
